Maude Hutchins' History
Maude Hutchins' family got into the seafood business in 1856, when her father, George Adams, and fourteen other fisherman started the Cove Fish Company. George Adams owned property on what is now called Adams Island in the Perkin's Cove area of Ogunquit, Maine, and in 1850, he built a home on the seaside property. When they formed the Cove Fish Company, George deeeded a strip of his land twenty feet wide at the water's edge to each fisherman, so that they would have a place to keep their gear and land their boats. They even dug a channel which allowed them to get back to Cove Fish Company more quickly with their fresh catch!
George Adams knew that the fish business was all about the quality and the freshness of the seafood they sold, and the generations that followed have been committed to this high standard. Today, Maude Hutchins Premium is still getting its seafood on the waterfront, ensuring the product in this package is the very freshest and finest!
